About Waterjet Cutting
What is water jet cutting?
Waterjet technology uses a ultra-high pressure pump to create a stream or jet of water with an incredibly high pressure of up to 94,000 psi (6,480 bar).
The pressure is then passed via an engineered jewel orifice to create a very fine jet of water.
This jet alone is known as pure waterjet and is used to cut softer materials such as plastics and rubber.
To cut harder materials, an abrasive such as fine graded garnet sand is introduced into the supersonic water stream.
This is then known as abrasive waterjet and the cutting power can be increased by up to 1,000 times making it ideal for cutting most hard materials and metals.
